📖 Ingredients (1 serving):
½ oz (15 ml) coffee liqueur (Kahlúa is traditional)
½ oz (15 ml) Irish cream liqueur (Baileys works best)
½ oz (15 ml) orange liqueur (Grand Marnier for richness, or Cointreau for brightness)
🍒 Optional Garnish / Variation:
Light the top layer for a Flaming B-52 (⚠️ use caution!)
🛠️ Equipment Needed:
Shot glass (preferably narrow and tall)
Bar spoon (or inverted teaspoon for layering)
Jigger or measuring tool
🍹 Instructions:
Pour the coffee liqueur
Carefully pour ½ oz of Kahlúa into the bottom of the shot glass. This will form the base layer.
Layer the Irish cream
Slowly pour ½ oz of Baileys Irish Cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee liqueur without mixing.
Add the orange liqueur
Repeat the process with ½ oz of Grand Marnier, carefully floating it on top of the Irish cream layer.
Serve immediately
The drink is meant to be sipped slowly or taken as a single, smooth shot.
⚠️ Optional: Flaming B-52
If you want to make the flaming version, use extra caution:
Float the Grand Marnier on top as usual.
Light it briefly using a long match or lighter.
Let the flame burn for a few seconds, then blow it out before drinking.
Never drink the shot while it’s lit!
✨ Tips for the Perfect B-52:
Use a chilled glass to slow down mixing.
Pour slowly and carefully to keep layers distinct.
The density order is crucial: coffee liqueur (heaviest), Irish cream (medium), orange liqueur (lightest).
For a twist, substitute different liqueurs—like hazelnut (Frangelico) or peppermint (Crème de Menthe).
✅ Flavor Profile:
Smooth, creamy, and sweet. The coffee base adds depth, the Irish cream adds silkiness, and the orange liqueur adds a citrus lift.
