Ingredients (1 serving):
1 oz (30 ml) Gin
1 oz (30 ml) Campari
1 oz (30 ml) Sweet Vermouth
Orange peel (for garnish)
Equipment Needed:
Mixing glass or shaker tin
Bar spoon
Jigger or measuring tool
Strainer
Old fashioned glass (also called a rocks glass)
Ice (large clear cubes preferred)
Instructions:
Chill your glass:
Fill the rocks glass with ice to chill it while you mix the drink.
Mix the cocktail:
In a mixing glass, add:
1 oz Gin
1 oz Campari
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 20–30 seconds, until well chilled and slightly diluted.
Prepare the glass:
Discard the ice from your rocks glass.
Add a large ice cube (or fresh cubes) to the glass.
Strain and serve:
Strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into your prepared rocks glass over the ice.
Garnish:
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink (twist it over the glass), then drop it in.
Tips for the Perfect Negroni:
Use a high-quality gin with a strong botanical profile to hold up against the bold Campari.
Choose a balanced sweet vermouth (like Carpano Antica or Cocchi) to round out the bitterness.
Stir—never shake—to maintain a smooth, silky texture.
Use large ice cubes to slow dilution while keeping the drink cold.
